Pınar's View

Birch Plywood

Pınar’s View is inspired by the stories my mom would tell me of her time in boarding school. She never could study during her allotted study period in the day, and instead would look out the window and daydream. Here, I mix her tellings with what I imagined her view to be. She didn’t like her name that much, and would imagine herself going by Pınar instead. She missed being home, and would often think about her family. Her hair was cut off before they sent her off to İzmir, but in this rendition maybe her wishes made their way back to her, and she did have her hair, was back home, and basked in the sound of (a) Pınar. That’s my dream, at least.
